Scoot McNairy and Sara Simmonds star in the new affecting classic
"In Search of a Midnight Kiss" which premiered last week at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Scott saw a lot of things at Tribeca this year but nothing quite impressed him like "In Search of a Midnight Kiss" did. How good was it exactly? Read his review to find out.

Stephen Colletti at the premiere of "Normal Adolescent Behavior" at the Tribeca Film Festival, 4/27/07, 4:42pm.
After goofing around on the red carpet for "Normal Adolescent Behavior," Stephen Colletti made his way down to talk to us a little about his involvement in the new movie from Beth Schacter. When asked if he'd consider the film anything like another teen gone wild flick "Thirteen", he cited director Schacter's opinion on the matter. "Beth says it's the anti-thirteen and it really is, you have to see it." Which we did soon after (the review for the film will be up real soon.) Colletti went on to mention how much he loved working with Amber Tamblyn and how he thinks she's "a great actress" and would definately "work with her again."
Something Colletti forgot to mention (or tried to keep secret) was that his character Robert in the film is bi-sexual and has a secret relationship with up and comer Edward Tournier's character- Jonah.

Stephen Colletti and Edward Tournier play best friends who are apart of a group of teens that all sleep with one another. Thing is they might be sleeping together on the side as well.
L to R: actor Edward Tournier, producer Demann Pilar, writer and director Beth Schacter, actress Kellie Garner and actor Stephen Colletti.
The movie never really explores this relationship (it's more found out towards the end and by then the gayest thing you see is a slap on the knee) but it's odd nonetheless that Colletti didn't mention his character getting busy with another guy. Frankly I found this to be one of the more interesting aspects of the story (loved Amber's scene where she confronts Edward about it) and felt that Schacter copped out on anything she could show (she left in plenty of girl on girl innuendo though.) Not to say I wanted "Brokeback," but the relationship becomes more of a joke (a brief moment where Stephen's character gestures Edward to come in the shower with him got a huge response of "oooooohhssss!" and laughs.)
So I confronted Schacter after the movie about if she exercised any footage of the two guys hooking up. "There's footage and I'll give it to you for a $1,000 dollars" she said laughing. "Seriously?" I asked. "No, no" she smiled. "Normal Adolescent Behavior's" review should be very, very soon.

Getting up close and personal with Edward Burns at the "Perfect Stranger" premiere 4/10/07
I still can't believe I took this photo at such close range. Afterwards I was afraid I burned Burns' eyes out. He was a good sport.
It all turned out great though. When approaching Burns, I immediately expressed my concern and disappointment of not seeing his latest film "Purple Violets" in the Tribeca Film Festival catalog last week when it arrived with the NY Times (it has since been added in newer printed catalogs) especially since it was announced weeks prior as being in the festival.
Burns confirmed that the film is still very much playing at Tribeca this year and nodded in excitement when I mentioned how stoked I was to catch it. Turns out the whole mix up with the film not showing up in Tribeca catalogs last week was a printing mishap.
I talked to a Tribeca coordinator yesterday and he confirmed that the catalogs that were released last Saturday had actually been printed two weeks prior and weren't completely up to date. Weird considering Burns' film is a highlight of the festival. However, it was great to have some confirmation from the director/writer himself that the film will indeed screen.
Burns' eighth written and directed film "Purple Violets" premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 30th then goes on to play regular showings on May 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th (the Sat, May 5th screening has sold out.) Will I see you there?
Well it's that time of year again. The Tribeca Film Festival: 2007 Edition is upon us and with just one look at the festival's program the other day sent us into a tizzy. So many movies, so little time. Lots and lots of premieres, Q&A's and panels to attend and we haven't even gotten a full schedule yet. After looking over the program for like three hours, we finally narrowed our interests to thirty seven movies. We were going to run them all but Scott said it was too many and we had to shrink our choices down even lower to twelve films.
As for all the controversy on ticket prices this year (From last year's $12 to this year's $18) Scott has released the following comment: "It was only a matter a time. I'm not surprised at all. The thing I was most upset about was last year's move to mostly uptown theaters. Sure it's more convenient for me but that's not what Tribeca is all about. If people remember when Tribeca started six years ago, it was about revitalizing downtown. It doesn't seem to be about that anymore. Yeah downtown is better than ever, but we need to keep the spirit of the festival. Why even call it the 'Tribeca Film Festival' anymore?" That being said we agree, but we also have to add in we love having the uptown theaters showing movies, it was a pain going downtown sometimes. This year has more quality movies and big stars, so lets get going.
The following are Scott's and our must sees for the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival mixed together.

Looks like hiding up there didn't save Spidey from getting caught by Venom's black webbing in "Spider-Man 3" (Columbia Pictures, May 4th)
Ever since the hot news broke of the possibility of "Spider-Man 3" to be premiering here in NY in May as part of the Tribeca Film Festival (I called this last year when they announced the release date and saw Tribeca was around the same time) was put on the net today by various sources, my NY critic buddies have been all yapping away on when and where. No one knows when the premiere actually is and if it actually will be here (although it was filmed in NY, it should premiere here) but I call May 2nd at the Ziegfeld. Why May 2nd? May 1st is the opening in Tokyo, Sony made a big deal about that, to have Spidey premiere at Tribeca before that date would make no sense after all the news on the May 1st opening day in Tokyo. It could premiere on the same day though... I'm calling May 2nd on a whim.

Will this be where "Spider-Man 3" premieres if it does premiere in NY? Most likely.
Last year the "United 93" Gala premiere at Tribeca was on a Tuesday the same day May 2nd would be. I'm saying The Ziegfeld because it's a big movie and Tribeca loves doing their Galas there. It's not official or anything. I will be definitely looking more into this. I used to work at The Ziegfeld too!
A quick note on the production still on the top of the article, it showed up briefly on many, many sites but a few people still haven't seen it. For those that don't know there was no real confirmation that a real fight would take place in the movie between Spidey and Venom, it was just highly rumored (like a three way showdown between Spidey, Sandman and the Goblin) but that seven minute clip where SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER... Harry gets knocked out, looks like he might be dead.
Will NY get a taste of Spidey in May or even before? (Highly unlikely..) We'll see soon enough.
